Celebrated musician Bryan Adams, one of the best-selling music artists of all time, recently visited Wandsworth-based Westbridge Academy to donate books to each individual pupil and tour the school.
Every pupil from Nursery to Year 6 received two books, which included age-appropriate sticker, picture and chapter books. The pupils were thrilled with their gifts, which they have been enjoying in the New Year.
Westbridge Academy, which is part of STEP Academy Trust, has a long-standing relationship with the iconic singer, who has donated funds to the school through ‘The Bryan Adams Foundation’, and has visited the school before. These donations have been used for improvements to the school’s facilities and to take pupils to West End Theatre shows such as The Lion King, Matilda and Wicked, as well as excursions to places like ‘Go Ape’ in Battersea Park.
Mr Adams requested a tour of the school to view and admire recent improvements. He also asked to meet with pupils to hear about their excursions and how these opportunities have improved their learning.
During the tour of the school, Mr Adams and his family were part of the assembly, where he sang some of his hit songs. The pupils spontaneously joined in singing along, one of the many special moments during the day that captured the warm spirit and happiness of his visit to the school.
“Bryan Adams’s visit was absolutely incredible. Our pupils were very happy with their generously donated books and staff were quite star struck by Bryan, who was warm and very engaging with pupils and staff alike.
“On behalf of the entire school I want to say a huge thank you to Bryan for taking the time to visit our school and for the generous donations. We are so grateful for all their contributions to the community at Westbridge Academy.
“Mr Adams has become a familiar and beloved face at Westbridge Academy, where both our students and staff are already looking forward to his next visit.”
