What a fantastic end to the 2024/25 school year it was at Westbridge Academy. The final few weeks of July raced by as so many events took place to celebrate our wonderful children.
On Friday 18th July, some Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in our annual Sleep Out for the Homeless, held overnight at school. Children were challenged to build their own shelters using cardboard boxes and tape — an activity that was both fun and thought-provoking.
The boys slept in the lunch room and the girls in the main hall. While not much sleep was had (especially for the teachers!), the night was filled with laughter, teamwork and meaningful discussion about homelessness.
Thanks to everyone’s incredible efforts, including our whole-school Pyjama Day, we raised a total of £683.75 for local homeless charities. A huge thank you to the children who raised money through sponsorship.
The final week of July focused on Year 6 as the children delivered their performance for 'Alice in Wonderland' both to the whole school and their parents. Later on that week, Year 6 and Reception class enjoyed their Graduation Ceremonies by proudly sharing the many skills and memories they had from their time at Westbridge.
On the final day of term, the school community joined together to celebrate the Summer Fayre. Despite the rain, it was still a fantastic afternoon. Marsha De Cordova - Battersea MP - dropped by to greet the children and enjoy the fun. Thank you to everyone for the very generous tombola donations. A special thank you to Thomas’s School and their parents for donating the range of impressive raffle gifts. Finally, great work by all staff and volunteers at Westbridge to ensure the event was successfully delivered.
